Wow, The first kitchen is my dream kitchen! I really like the whole contemporary theme throughout that room. My wife and I are in the process of remodeling our house and the first thing we are having done is kitchen cabinet refacing. She wants more of a country and old looking feel to the kitchen and I like rooms to look more modern, so it has been a challenge on figuring out exactly how we are going to have it done. I like the idea that you stated about having a drop table to save space. I am a little confused on why these kitchens above are being stated as small though, they look pretty big to me.
